Louise Feneley
Louise Feneley is an artist based in Adelaide, South Australia.
This work is simply an acknowledgement of the fact that, from the studio window, the painter watches and contemplates the sea, water reflecting light, the sky and clouds, and listens to the shifting effects of wind and tide, changing throughout the day, through months of time, into years...a simple consistent act.
Not clever, not original, not political, not cutting edge, not ironic, not unique, not groundbreaking, but a simple act of one human being, reclusive enough to take note of her surroundings and tell about it in paint.
“A lake [and equally the sea] is a landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth’s eye, looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature”. Henry David Thoreau, Waldon Pond.
