FINALIST ARTHUR GUY MEMORIAL PRIZE & MOSMAN ART PRIZE
HSG Represented artist Matthew Quick has been selected as a finalist in two prestigious national art prizes, the Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize, Bendigo Art Gallery VIC for his work "Domestic Goddess" (shown) and the Mosman Art Prize, NSW, for his work "Status Update".
Matthew was selected as one of 105 finalists in the Mosman Art Prize from a total of 850 entries. The major award of $30,000, sponsored by Mosman Council, is acquisitive, with the winning work joining the Mosman Art Collection. Celebrating 68 years in 2015, Mosman Art Prize is the longest running, continuous municipal art prize in Australia.
The Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize is designed to attract some of Australia’s finest contemporary artists and high calibre works, the inaugural Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize and exhibition was first held in 2003 at Bendigo Art Gallery. Every two years the Gallery invites artists to submit entries for the Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize. The most outstanding work as judged by the selection panel is awarded an acquisitive cash prize of $50,000.
In other news, Matthew Quick is currently artist in residence at Sydney Grammar; following in the footsteps of Del Katheryn Barton and Alex Seaton.
